When booking a reservation, please have your flight information ready. We will need a reservation, in order to process the paperwork correctly with Lihue Airport: Date, Exact flight arrival time, Airline name, Number, # of people in your party and your mobile number.
We will be waiting outside of the baggage claim area with a sign that has your name on it. Either on the right or left hand side of the baggage claim area depending if its A or B side of airport.
Permits are required when continuing beyond Hanakapi'ai Valley (2 miles in the trail) whether you are planning to camp overnight or not. Permits are about $20 per person per day. Local residents get a discount. Permits can be obtained from the State Parks office in Lihue or by calling (808) 587-0300.
The amount of people allowed on the trail at any one time is limited to a small number. Permits often sell out and during busy times can sell out up to a year in advance. Get your permits early to ensure you will be able to visit Kalalau. You can check for permit availability and purchase permits online as well.
