Pono Taxi and Tours s a new taxi company on Kauai, and currently located on the South shore (Poipu). In order to be considered for this position, you will need either a Taxi Permit provided by the DMV (Please call 808-634-4744 or email us a copy of your CERTIFICATE /PERMIT.) or get a Taxi permit. In order to get a Taxi Permit you will need the following before taking the Taxi Permit test (also download PDF: Director of Rules and Regulations for Taxis):

1. Criminal Abstract from the Police Department for DMV $15.00
2. Authorization Letter from Pono Taxi (employer). After Interview.
3. Two (2) Passport Photos (2x3). Get from Costco or Walmart
4. Written Test $1.00
5. Taxi Permit $20.00
6. Traffic Abstract from County Department - $20.00 Get County Administration Building across from Police Station
7. For Airport waiting after Licensing - Unsecured Badge for On Demand and Prearranged @ $10.00 each - Paid to Department of Transportation. Airport Division. Pono Taxi is already insured for Prearranged Airport pickups. We will need to provide you with necessary paperwork o authorize you to work with us.
8. Twic card to work at the cruise ships for tours $150.00 for TWIC card at TWIC office.
